  1. Booklet 2.40
  2. ------------
  3. 'Booklet' is a program to print documents in landscape orientation using both
  4. sides of the paper. It can operate with A5 or US letter paper on HP Laserjet II
  5. compatible printers, or 11" x 8" paper on 9 or 24 pin Epson compatible
  6. dot-matrix printers. When the output is folded down the middle it becomes an
  7. A5 (or similar) booklet.

  9. You can use it to print its own documentation. Just type 'booklet booklet.doc'.
  10. If you are using an dot-matrix Epson compatible, select 'Printer/Epson 9 pin'
  11. or 'Printer/Epson 24 pin' from the menu. If you are using a Laserjet II or
  12. compatible, select 'Printer/HP Laserjet, US letter' from the menu. If you are
  13. using LPT2 rather than LPT1, select 'Port/LPT2'. Leave ALL other options
  14. unchanged (55 lines+header, 80 columns/line, both sides, whole document).

  16. Then just choose 'File/Print' and follow the instructions.

  18. Upgrading from v2.12 or earlier
  19. -------------------------------
  20. If you have a configuration file BOOKLET.CFG in the same directory as
  21. BOOKLET.EXE, delete it before running this version. If present it will
  22. (probably) cause a load error. You can save a new file once you have
  23. entered the program. If you have registered the program you will need to
  24. re-enter your registration code using the 'Config/Register booklet' menu
  25. option. Note that any '0' or '1' in the code is a number, not the
  26. letters 'O' or 'l'.

  72.                   endings, this may not work very well.

  75. 2.12  20/03/91 1) Bug fix release, cured a problem with some Epsons in 66 line
  76.                   mode.

  89.                7) Altered the registration mechanism to simplify version
  90.                   upgrading. A user code is now provided which can be used to
  91.                   mark future releases.
  92.                8) Rearranged the menus to accomodate the extra options.
  93. 1.8   24/11/90 1) Now sends select symbol set to HP. The program previously
  94.                   used whatever symbol set had been selected as the default.
  95.                   The most noticeable effect was IBM graphics appearing as
  96.                   accented characters.
  97. 1.7   14/11/90 1) Added 24 pin Epson printer support.
  98. 1.6   19/10/90 1) Set up printer again before second pass. When the program
  99.                   uses a printer on a network it seems the network software
  100.                   treats the second side as a separate job, and resets the
  101.                   printer between passes. NOT TESTED BY ME as I don't have
  102.                   access to a network.
